                                    GOLF TOURNAMENT  - 2011

"It's Never Too Early to Plan for a Great Day on the Links!"

This years golf tournament, on October 3rd, 2011, will be held at the Lakewood Country Club Course which is located west of Lakewood Blvd on Carson Street.

Our tee off times begin at 10:00am and we will be using the "Best Ball" scoring system for prize awards, just like last year.  This year's cost will be the same as last year, just $52 per player.  There will be individual men and women prize awards, as well as for the "Best Ball" teams.

NOW, is  the time to get our golf date in your fun planning calendar for 2011 and to sign up for the tournament by contacting:  Jerry Callaghan at 562-691-4527, or by email  Mailto:jtcjmc@adelphia.net, or Joel Benson by email Mailto:iamjoel002@verizon.net.

Golf Results for 2010 Event!

For starters, Jerry and I want to thank all of the intrepid 48 players who braved the elements on the 4th of October to participate in the annual Retirees Golf Tournament. This was the first time our tournament has been rained on that any of us can remember.

All but one of the twelve foursomes managed to complete the round on the Mesa Linda Course of the Costa Mesa Country Club (Link).  We give a lot of credit for the large turnout to our new competition "Best Ball" where each foursome plays as a team using consecutive best ball shots on each hole.

Our friendly NuVision FCU (search) provided a sleeve of golf balls and tote bags for all players. In appreciation of NuVision’s many years of support for our tournament, we encourage our members to use their many services whenever possible.

In the past, our tournament has focused on individual golfing performance (i.e.: best gross and net score, longest drive, etc.)

In order to encourage more participation by the membership, we had a very friendly ”Scramble” format this year.  This format calls for each foursome to act as a team that plays for a “best ball” score.  As an example, after all members of the team have made their tee shots, the best one is used to mark the place where all the team players make a second shot, the best of which is used for placement of the next shot, and so on, etc.  Each round of shots count as one stroke until the hole is completed.  The team with the lowest final score became the tournament champions.  We will continue to give awards to individuals with the longest drive, closest to the pin, and chip-ins.

The MACDAC West Retirees Golf Tournament  -    2009

        The 21st Annual Golf Tournament

Forty players signed up for our annual DAC-MDC-Boeing Retirees Golf Tournament which, this year, was played on the Costa Mesa Country Club (search) on the Mesa Linda Course.. The weather provided a bright sun low wind day so it was a good day for play as well as chumming with old friends and making new ones.

Our friendly NuVision FCU (search) provided a sleeve of golf balls, a towel and tote bags for all players. In appreciation of their many years of support for our tournament we encourage our members to use their services whenever possible.
