GOLF TOURNAMENT

Golf News – Changes for 2010In the past, our tournament has focused on individual golfing performance (i.e.: best gross and net score, longest drive, etc.)In order to encourage more participation by the membership, we are going to have a very friendly ”Scramble” format this year. This format calls for each foursome to act as a team that plays for a “best ball” score. As an example, after all members of the team have made their tee shots, the best one is used to mark the place where all the team players make a second shot, the best of which is used for placement of the next shot, and so on, etc. Each round of shots count as one stroke until the hole is completed. The team with the lowest final score will become the tournament champions. We will continue to give awards to individuals with the longest drive, closest to the pin, and chip-ins. We know that October is a long time in the future, but we need to start getting organized. So, we are asking all those interested in playing to mark their calendars for Monday, October 04. This tournament will again be held at the Mesa Linda Course of the Costa Mesa Country Club (Link). Tee times begin at 11:00 am; cost this year is $52.00, which is due to be paid by mid-September. There will be snack bar on the course or you may arrange for box lunches. To sign up, please telephone Jerry Callaghan at (562) 691-4527, or Email him at Mailto:jtciocc@adelphia.net. Also, Joel Benson is accepting sign-ups at Mailto:iamjoel002@verizon.net. Be sure to include names of any friends you would like to see in your foursome. Last year we were happy to welcome 10 groups at play. We are hoping the new format will encourage at least 15 teams this year. - Joel Benson, golf chair |

The MACDAC West Retirees Golf Tournament - 2009 The 21st Annual Golf Tournament Forty players signed up for our annual DAC-MDC-Boeing Retirees Golf Tournament which, this year, was played on the Costa Mesa Country Club (search) on the Mesa Linda Course.. The weather provided a bright sun low wind day so it was a good day for play as well as chumming with old friends and making new ones. Our friendly NuVision FCU (search) provided a sleeve of golf balls, a towel and tote bags for all players. In appreciation of their many years of support for our tournament we encourage our members to use their services whenever possible. Thanks also to Jerry Callaghan for his help in rounding up many of our players. And now the winners:
