#151 A Time to Reminisce As you read this, Jill and I are travelling in Asia. We left just a couple of days after the March 21 dedication of the Douglas DC-3 Monument Plaza at Clover Field in Santa Monica. We saw many old friends there as we enjoyed the ceremony and admired the DC-3 mounted on a pedestal and the statue of DWD displayed there. (See Bill Wasserzieher’s story and photos in this edition of Roundup.) Another salute to the Douglas tradition is scheduled for May 6th in downtown Long Beach - “A Walk Down Memory Lane” commemorating 60 years of the DAC Management Club. The dinner program is sponsored by Boeing Long Beach Leadership Assn. and will feature historical displays and a panel discussion by John Brizendine, Bill Gross, Gene Dubil and me. See Flyer for more information and contact procedures. And one more item from the past: Our March luncheon speaker, Nick Spark, gave a memorable talk and a preview of his biographical film about Pancho Barnes. The final cut of the film is scheduled for its premiere on KOCE-TV (search)soon. Spark is asking for donations to fund the non-profit project. If you'd like to donate, you can mail your check directly to KOCE-TV. Your tax deductible gift will then be acknowledged by letter and/or email. Send checks payable to "KOCE-TV Foundation" to: "The Legend of Pancho Barnes" Ed Miskevich, Station Manger c/o KOCE-TV Foundation 17011 Beach Blvd. Suite 1550 Huntington Beach, CA 92647 Please include a note on your check indicating you are donating on behalf of The Legend of Pancho Barnes production.- Roger Schaufele, president |
